Coachella 2019’s line-up has officially been unleashed — with a few surprises.

Looks like Kanye West won’t be topping the Coachella 2019 lineup after all, with safer bets like Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Rüfus du Sol, DJ Snake, and Khalid topping the artist list this year.  Depending on what you believe, West was tapped to headline Coachella, but demanded a customized and enlarged stage to properly express himself (go figure).

Coachella apparently balked at the demand, at least according to TMZ, though it’s unclear if the mega-festival even extended the invite.  Aside from controversial politics and endless histrionics, it’s actually unclear if West would even show up for the gig.

Instead, Coachella has opted for less drama, and a pretty varied artist list.  On the rap side, that includes the likes of Juice WRLD, Wiz Khalifa, YG, Pusha T, and Playboi Carti, as well as an artist/group suspiciously titled ‘Gucci Gang’.

On that last one, speculation initially surrounded the possibility of a typo for Gucci Mane or a Lil Pump-fronted supergroup.  The name actually refers to a trio consisting of Gucci Mane, Lil Pump, and Smokepurpp.  Nice surprise.

But rap isn’t dominating the bill, not by any stretch.  Instead, the lineup features a range of different genres, with Christine and the Queens, Bassnectar, Aphex Twin, Weezer, Anderson .Paak, the 1975, and Kacey Musgraves representing a broader swath of styles.

The action is happening across two extended weekends: April 12-14th and April 19-21st.
